Preparing for the Consultation
A website, unlike television and newspaper ads, is mostly about information. When most people think about a website, they think design, but actually the design of the website is an underlying factor that enhances the information you have to give. This is what we at Taiga Webmaster Services would like to help you with - market your services via the World Wide Web, and doing it the right way.
To make the consultation as efficient as possible please gather the content for your website (the text you know you want on the website, your logo, and other images) and have it ready for the consultation.
We have prepared some questions we will inquire about at the consultation. You don't need to know the answer to these questions; it's just to give you a heads up.
Collect and Review your content
The content for your Web site includes not only the text, but also any graphic assets such as logos, photographs, or other images.
- What is your site's message? Your site's message will play into everything from the visual design you choose to the features and functionality you decide to include.
- How can you group different types of information together? How can similar chunks of information be grouped to create the different sections of the Web site? What should those sections be called, and how should they be presented?
- What kinds of content will you be presenting?
Your Audience
- Who will visit your site? The audience for a computer store's Web site, for example, probably will not expect to see a floral pattern in the background.
- What type of equipment will visitors be using? This has a big impact on how your site is designed.
- What do you hope the visitor will achieve at your site?
Establishing your goals
- What do you expect to achieve by having a Web site?
- What long-term goals do you hope to achieve by maintaining the Web site? Think about what you hope to achieve during the life of the Web site. This can help point you in the direction of future enhancements.
Consider the graphic design style
- What graphic design style will you use? It's important to decide early on whether you want a simple minimalist style or something more ornate and rococo.
- Which layout style will you use? We will show you several different types at the consultation.
- What color scheme will you use? Here we like to base the colors of your logo.
- Which font families will you use?
